SCI Australia has ownership of the land. The total cost of purchase of $5.2m includes a gift of $2.5m to secure the site.

Architectural plans for Stage One and Stage Two are complete.  A scale model of the Sargood Centre has been constructed and is available for viewing.

A generous commitment from the Department of Ageing Disability and HomeCare to fund the service recurrently once it is operational

SCI Australia has established recognised and well respected roles within the rehabilitation medical networks.  Ongoing collaboration with specialist units, Prince of Wales and Royal North Shore Hospitals, has highlighted the need of this specialized transitional unit.  Research and consultation has been completed with Dr Paul Kennedy, Stoke Mandeville Rehabilitation Unit, United Kingdom.

Fundraising support from the local business community and individuals.  Established networks with local councils to assist with community access and the development of the entire region as a wheelchair friendly environment.

The Sargood Centre will be constructed in two stages –
Stage One will contain the administration core of the centre and 10 units fo r individuals and family groups

Stage Two will provide and additional 14 accommodation places

To complete Stage One by December 2008, SCI Australia needs $6.1million.  To complete Stage Two by March 2010, an additional $4m is required.
